This role-play is set during the Marauders' last three years at Hogwarts. The wizarding world is quite a different place than it is during Harry Potter’s lifetime. We will play to canon.

Peter looked up at Sirius, then, the relief quite visible on his face. He knew, though, that thanks would only be mocked, because according to Sirius and James, friends didn't need to thank each other. And he knew it made him look weak, to depend on his friends like he did. But... well. He had to. He'd never survive without them, without someone he knew would help him when he screwed up, which happened often enough, he'd admit.
The idea of Sirius running through the halls in nothing but his boxers and that horrible bonnet did make him grin a little. He eyed Sirius, then turned to peer at McGonagall up at the staff table; she'd sent James a stern look at his outburst (which he'd promptly ignored, or perhaps hadn't even noticed), but had obviously decided it wasn't worth it to bother with them for the moment.
"Eight minutes," he said finally. "I'll wager it'll take you eight. But she actually has to catch you, not just spot you," he added, smirking a bit.

James chuckled at the vision in his head. Sirius in the bonnet and his boxers only. You just can't beat things like that. Then Peter added that he thought he could make it in eight. Shaking his head, James remembered all the many times Pete had overestimated one of the other Marauders, especially James or Sirius.
"Now eight is pushing it." He laughed. Never did it seem that kid could doubt them. "But, then again, if she only has to catch you... Sirius may very well be able to make it." He liked the image of old McGonagall running like hell after a near-naked Sirius.
come on let me love you just a little bit, i'm gonna teach you how to sing it out, come on come on come ON, let me show you what it's all about

"You and Pete have more faith in me than I do," Sirius observed, brows raised. "Fine, then. I say I can make five, you two say eight." Remus hadn't specified any amount of time, though, so he turned to his friend, waiting.
"Have you got more faith in me than them? Or less?" Oh, he was going to enjoy this quite thoroughly. And he might very well walk right out through the Common Room in just his boxers. Or perhaps his trousers. It did do a bloke's ego good when all the ladies swooned at his naked chest.

Put on the spot, Remus blinked a couple of times before answering, though still quite amused by the image of Sirius running around with only his boxers and the bonnet on. And McGonagall's face, don't forget that. That was almost better than the first image. Poor woman, really... he couldn't imagine every year is quite like theirs.
After a moment of attempting to think this over properly, Remus just shook his head. Well, first of all, he didn't have any five galleons but he couldn't back out of this if everyone else was in on it. He'd just have to... owe it to them if he lost. Or something. He tried not to be involved in money-spending activities, but a bloke can't just back out on a bet when the rest of his mates are doing it.
"No offense, mate, but it isn't about my faith in you," Remus finally concluded. "It's a matter of McGonagall, too, and she's got a sixth sense, I'm telling you." No one ever believed him. "Three minutes."

Peter grinned in relief, glad his friends were helping to cheer him up... even if some of their tactics would likely have negative repercussions for his love life in the near future... Hell, who was he kidding? He had no love life, and with James and Sirius around, he'd never get to ask anyone out. He supposed he could always just stay behind from Hogsmeade anyway, and keep Remus company; Moony hadn't gotten his mum to agree to sign his slip, yet.
"You've got no faith in Sirius' running abilities," he said mock-sadly. But then he grinned, and the expression was surprisingly devilish, despite his buck teeth. "Tonight, then. We'll find out who's right."
